  1. Wash moong dal thoroughly and add to a pressure cooker with water, turmeric, and salt.
  2. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles until dal is soft and mushy.
  3. Once pressure releases, open and mash the dal slightly with a ladle.
  4. For tadka: Heat ghee in a small pan over medium heat.
  5. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  6. Add sliced garlic and dry red chilies. Sauté until garlic turns golden.
  7. Add sliced onions and cook until translucent.
  8. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
  9. Pour the hot tadka over the dal. Mix well.
  10. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or roti.
