- Wash moong dal thoroughly and add to a pressure cooker with water, turmeric, and salt.
- Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles until dal is soft and mushy.
- Once pressure releases, open and mash the dal slightly with a ladle.
- For tadka: Heat ghee in a small pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add sliced garlic and dry red chilies. Sauté until garlic turns golden.
- Add sliced onions and cook until translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
- Pour the hot tadka over the dal. Mix well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or roti.
